First Blog Post…

Well, I didn’t really set out to start a blog, was really just wanting to setup an account to follow Larry Correia. I started reading his stories on TheHighRoad, org, which is a firearm related forum, I highly recommend it! Great Site. Anyhow, I have read all of Larry Correia’s books, I absolutely love them. Monster Hunter International is a great story and the Grimnoir Chronicles, if you like action, guns, monsters, magic, and genuinely creative stories, then you should look in to Correia’s books, they are great. In this age where the only movies hollyweird can make are remakes, Correia’s stories are refreshingly new and very creative. Perhaps at some point in the future Hollywood will come knocking on Correia’s door and make some of his novels in to movies, they would do great!

Anyhow, I don’t really have anything in particular to say. I am not a financial genius, I am no sport’s star, not a movie star (thank goodness!) and am in no way famous. I am a conservative American, happily married to the best woman in the world (why she puts up with me, I have no idea), we have two kids, a boy and a girl, we live in rural Southern Oregon, my Wife works at Wal Mart as a department manager and currently I am a stay at home Dad. I’m not your typical conservative, I am of mixed racial heritage, Caucasian and Asian, I was adopted as a baby, my wife is India Indian, born and raised in Hong Kong, our two kids are adopted. As I was adopted and had such wonderful parents, who loved me dearly and raised me to think for myself, I felt I had to repay the kindness that was shown to me by adopting. Our kids are of mixed racial heritage, Mexican (Their birth father was from Mexico, so they are Mexican, not hispanic) and Irish.

Which does lead me to one of my biggest pet peeves! I hate hyphenated Americans. I am not Asian-American, my kids aren’t Mexican-American or Irish-American, they are Americans, my wife isn’t Indian-American, she is an American. Why we have this drive to indicate our ethnicity in describing what kind of American we are, I don’t understand. Unless you are Native American, you or your ancestors are from somewhere else, America is the great melting pot, we are all heinz 57 racially (at least most of us are) this insane drive to separate us in to categories does this great country no good, it only serves to divide us. America’s greatness came that there are no classes to divide us up, we have no nobility, we have no tribal allegiances, we are American’s! If you feel the need to say that you are Asian-American or African-American, then I have to ask you a question… Were you born in Asia or Africa? No, then you are American. My birth ancestors were from England, France, Russia, Malaysia, and The Philippines, but I am an American. My Parents ancestors were European, but they didn’t identify themselves as European-American, they were both Americans. My Mother was born in Iowa and my Dad was born in Oklahoma, OK, so he was an Okie 🙂

I probably should “shut up” now, as I have probably stepped on enough toes for one blog for today…  I am sure as I blog more, I will step on more toes. I have my own opinions and I will probably share them with the rest of the world, or at least whoever decides to waste 5 minutes and read my ramblings.
